Reason for composing Declaration of Indep.?
Q. Thomas Jefferson's main purpose in composing the Declaration of Independence was to A.raise funds from colonial legislatures to carry on the war. B.explain to the British public why Americans were repudiating George III, in the hopes that Britons would stop Parliament and the king from waging a bloody war. C.justify the action of Congress by blaming the rupture on George III. I got this question wrong on my quiz and was wondering if anyone knew the correct answer

A. 'A' would be the most obvious answer (look at Congress now...). On the other hand, I would say 'C.' It was their intention to provide a "framework" of government not based on regency but democracy.
