TranslingualAlternative spellingsFrom Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Quotation marks or inverted commas (informally referred to as quotes and speech marks) are punctuation marks used in pairs to set off speech, a quotation, a phrase, or a word. They come as a pair of opening and closing marks in either of two styles: single (‘. . .’) or double (“. . .”). Depending on the typeface, opening and closing quotation marks may be identical in form (called "vertical", "straight", or "typewriter" quotation marks), or they may be distinctly left-handed and right-handed ("typographic" or, colloquially, "curly" quotation marks). The closing single quotation mark is identical or similar in form to the apostrophe, and similar to the prime symbol. These three characters have quite different purposes, however. Q. I'm not a very good man, sir, but I am sheriff of Maycomb County. Lived in this town all my life an' I'm goin' on forty-three years old. Know everything that's happened here since before I was born. There's a black boy dead for no reason, and the man responsible for it's dead. Let the dead bury the dead this time, Mr. Finch. There is nothing more for Atticus to do, he defended Tom when no one else did, which is noble, but now that Tom and Bob Ewell are dead nothing can be done to help either one of them. Q. coz if u can rise up again after failing that make failing (or relapse in my specific subject) is not big of a deal. So I need a quot says that u can rise up without undermining how bad it is that u already failed. Asked by No Picture - Fri Nov 9 12:56:30 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Consider these: Robert F. Kennedy said: "Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly." And this from Winston Churchill: "Courage is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm." Just a personal observation: No famous quote that I am aware of suggests that being able to recover from failure means that "failure is no big deal." In fact, the wisest men and women commenting on it recognize that failure plays one of the most, if not THE most, important roles in human development and accomplishments, and that living a full and rich life is not possible without failure. That does not sound like failure being "no big deal." Answered by JMH - Fri Nov 9 14:29:06 2007 From Yahoo Answer Search: """
